Teach Yourself Bagpipes by Lindsay Davidson - Piobaireachd

bringing quality 'piping instruction to you for free
The Glen is Mine

The first place to start with learning any pibroch, is to listen to the ground a million times, enough so that you can sing it very comfortably.

Above, you have an example of one interpretation of the ground.

Discussion points:

  • This tune depends upon a kind of  'rocking' rhythm to create the sense of timelessnss. This should be your main goal in setting tempo and timing.
  • The throws on E must be sharp, brisk and discreet, not too heavy.
  • The grips must also be light and gentle.
  • Slow down a little at the end of the ground.

Further instructions will follow (written in June 2021).
